Programme of the MillenNium of Lithuania
The name of Lithuania was firstly mentioned in1009 in the annals of Quedlinburg, Germany.
Today this date represents to Lithuania and its historic self-awareness an important symbolic borderline between prehistory and history; it is a beginning of transition from nameless existence to Western civilization. As we commemorate the Millennium of the name of Lithuania, we commemorate the Millennium of Lithuania.
